St. Michael’s is an Episcopal Church founded in 1951 and a part of the Diocese of Southern Virginia and The Episcopal Church nationwide. As a part of the Episcopal Church, St. Michael’s is also part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which has 70 million members in countries circling the globe.
We believe first and foremost that we can best come to know God, our creator, through a relationship with his son, Jesus Christ. As our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry says, “We are the Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement!”
Our Baptismal Covenant guides us in the basics of what we believe and how we live out our faith.
As a church, we emphasize the mystery of encountering God in worship. We believe all people are called to be ministers and to serve God, his Church and the community in which they live with the unique gifts God has given them.
